Congressman Matt Van Epps Announces Senior Leadership Team

Washington, D.C. — Congressman Matt Van Epps (TN-07) today announced his senior leadership team, naming Sam Nienow as Chief of Staff, Alex Joyner as Senior Advisor, and Steve Allbrooks as District Director. Together, the team brings decades of experience serving Tennessee’s 7th Congressional District and deep institutional knowledge of both district and Washington operations.

“From day one, my priority has been building a team that understands this district and knows how to deliver results,” said Congressman Van Epps. “Sam, Alex, and Steve bring unmatched experience and a shared commitment to serving the people of Tennessee.”

Sam Nienow will serve as Chief of Staff, overseeing Congressman Van Epps’ Washington, D.C. operations. Nienow began serving under former Congressman Mark Green in 2019 as a Field Representative before becoming District Director, Deputy Chief of Staff, and ultimately Acting Chief of Staff during the final months of Green’s tenure. His experience across nearly every level of congressional office operations provides strong continuity and leadership.

Alex Joyner will serve as Senior Advisor, overseeing district operations and providing guidance on communications, legislative strategy, and operational matters. Joyner previously served as Congressman Van Epps’ campaign manager and began his career with Congressman Mark Green in 2018 as a Field Representative for his initial campaign for Congress. He later served as Bodyman, Staff Assistant, and Special Assistant, and managed Green’s successful congressional campaigns in 2022 and 2024.

Steve Allbrooks will serve as District Director. Allbrooks brings 23 years of experience serving Tennessee’s 7th Congressional District and has served as District Director for two previous Members of Congress, making Congressman Van Epps the third Member of Congress he has served in this role. His career includes service with then-Congresswoman Marsha Blackburn and later as District Director and Senior Advisor to Congressman Mark Green. His deep institutional knowledge and long-standing relationships will be a tremendous asset to Congressman Van Epps.

With over 36 years of combined experience and deep knowledge of Tennessee’s 7th Congressional District, this team is ready to serve from day one.
